Europe is becoming more and more short in supply of Eels. Especially the big trawlers hunt for glass eels is threatening the population. But in Poland traditional small scale fishermen are still catching some of the precious creatures. The European eel is one of the most mysterious creatures of the seas. He spents almost his entire life in our waters and is yet a stranger. The eel spawns far away from Europe in the infamous Bermuda Triangle. And this only once in his lifetime. On the way back the baby eels are captured in large numbers because breeding is impossible. This way only very few make their way back to the European estuaries. Today eel is the most expensive fish caught in northern Europe.
