Where is the sunshine in December?
The answer is clear: On Portugal’s southernmost coastline, the Algarve. An area full of absorbing contrasts and powerful people.
“The Algarve is a lusty, a striking place” says Nicolau da Costa. “The Algarve is a affectionate, a simply georgeous place” says Inès Barracha.
Nicolau and Inès should know what they are talking about. They both grew up in the area, they both left it in search of a better life elsewhere and they both returned.
Nicolau, 38, now working as a fisherman, finished a degree in gardening architecture and worked in Istanbul and Barcelona. Inès, 31, now working as a painting teacher, did her masters in 3D animation and worked in the Advertising in London. They both were focusing on their urban dream careers. And they both decided to give them up for the sunshine and beauty of the Algarve.
I met them and many others in late 2013 for Mobil magazine.
